Missions

It’s time to begin planning for our 2008 DELEGATION TO EL SALVADOR.  We will determine as a group the best travel week.  Get your name in early before it fills up!  Maximum delegation size: 12.  Need: current passport, tetanus updated, Hepatitis A shots.  Some walking, able to ride in back of pickup.  Some Spanish is helpful, but not required.  HS age or older.  Contact Marcia Justice if you are interested or with questions (964-5244).

We continue to raise funds to support the mission work.

APC Cookbooks are available for $10/each with all of the proceeds going into the El Salvador fund.

You may also make a direct donation to APC by noting “El Salvador fund” on the memo line on your check.

The purchase of Don Justo coffee ($8/lb – regular or $9/lb – flavored) provides a decent wage for the Salvadoran coffee farmers with a bonus of $3.00 from each bag sold going to the Pastoral Team for mission projects in the cantons and schools.

“A Just Cup of Coffee” mugs ($8/each) support the promotional efforts of Compañeros (sub-committee of Presbytery’s Social Ministries), which oversees the El Salvador mission.

PRESBYTERIAN GENERAL MISSION http://www.pcusa.org/navigation/mission.htm

Presbyterians are in mission in partnership locally, nationally and globally. Through the General Assembly, all Presbyterians have a voice in setting directions for mission and through their General Mission Giving, have a vital responsibility in carrying out what the General Assembly has mandated. The denomination has set four mission priorities for the next phase of our life as the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): Evangelism and Witness, Justice and Compassion, Spirituality and Discipleship, Leadership and Vocation - We are called to lead by Jesus Christ's example, to identify spiritual gifts and to equip and support Christians of all ages for faithful and effective servant leadership in all parts of the body of Christ. (Presbyterian Church USA web site).
